Mainstream media is threatening our country’s future – Democratic Pollster

Editor’s note: The following text is from a speech delivered by Democratic pollster and Fox News contributor Patrick Caddell on September 21. It was delivered at Accuracy in Media’s Conference: Obamanation: A Day of Truth. The title of the speech was “The Audacity of Corruption.” For more on Accuracy in Media, click here.

I think we’re at the most dangerous time in our political history in terms of the balance of power in the role that the media plays in whether or not we maintain a free democracy or not.  You know, when I first started in politics – and for a long time before that – everyone on both sides, Democrats and Republicans, despised the press commonly, because they were SOBs to everybody.  Which is exactly what they should be.  They were unrelenting.  Whatever the biases were, they were essentially equal-opportunity people.

That changed in 1980.

There are a lot of reasons for it. It changed—an important point in the Dukakis-Bush election, when the press literally was trying to get Dukakis elected by ignoring what was happening in Massachusetts, with a candidate who was running on the platform of “He will do for America what he did for Massachusetts”—while they were on the verge of bankruptcy.

Hal Prewitt Racing 8/17/2012 A honest Mitt Romney Story

Aug 16th, 2012 – Miami Beach – “The Mitt Romney we know – Insight into the man”. Corinne and I have released a story to the public & press. It has gone viral. When you read it the reason will become clear. We bought Mitt Romney’s home and have an insight into the man & his family few others have. Private details, how he acted out of public view and when not running for office. Mitt Romney is very different from the man that many Americans have been led to believe. Not all, but many people will be surprised and amazed.

No one can say with absolute certainty what kinds of decisions a president will make while still a candidate for that office. To predict, we only have access to their words, history and if available the most useful facts of all, how they acted out of public view and when they are not running for office. This is why our story is so important, valuable and must be told. No doubt some will want to dismiss our story or argue that it is not newsworthy nor relevant. However, we hope our voters are given the opportunity to hear the truth, especially when the facts directly contradict what many people think to be true.

Our story was written and became public after Democratic, Republican and Independent voters recommended and found it valuable. We are messengers, delivering facts. We were not Mitt Romney supporters nor anti-Obama. The facts do change who we support. Regardless of who any of us are supporting in the presidential election, we all are better served by knowing the truth. This story was not approved by Mitt Romney or his campaign as these are Corinne & Hal Prewitt’s words and the efforts to publish are their own.

Al Arabiya to air newly-leaked, highly-classified Syrian security documents

A special news program showcasing newly-leaked and highly-classified Syrian security documents will be aired by Al Arabiya News Channel, the 24/7 free-to-air news and current affairs newscaster.

These documents were obtained with the assistance of members in the Syrian opposition; which has preferred not to elaborate on how they got hold of them, Al Arabiya said.

The channel said that it has verified and authenticated hundreds of these documents and that it has decided to disclose ones with substantial news value and political relevance.

“The documents will reveal – for the first time – shocking information which includes details about what happened to the Turkish fighter-jet downed by Syria and incidents which reveal the Syrian regime’s role in attempting to shake Jordan’s and Lebanon’s stability,” Al Arabiya said.

The newly leaked documents reveal the Iranian and Russian roles in aiding the Assad regime and the establishment of a joint command force which intervenes in all matters related to the Syrian crisis.

Furthermore, Hezbollah’s role is also disclosed through the documents, showing how the armed group received written and clear orders from the highest authorities to ‘eradicate’ Syrian activists and carry out a series of bombings.

The 2-week long pre-recorded program airs Saturday to Thursday. It commences on Saturday, Sept. 29th, 2012 at 16:30 GMT, on Al Arabiya’s “Al Hadath” channel.

Al Arabiya’s English language portal – – will be posting subtitled versions of the program translated into English, supported by original reporting and downloadable copies of the newly leaked documents.

ABC News Busts TSA Agent Who Allegedly Stole iPad During Investigative Sting: Gothamist

Oh yeah, this is some great television: ABC News did an investigative report wherein reporters “accidentally” left behind iPads at ten major airports with a history of theft by government screeners. And they got some poor slob to take the bait: Security camera footage shows TSA screener Andy Ramirez with the iPad after it had gone through the screening process at Orlando airport. Using a tracking device in the gadget, ABC confronted Ramirez at his home, where he proceeded to blame his wife.

First Ramirez denied knowing anything about any stupid iPad, but then ABC set off an audio alarm feature in the iPad, and it could be heard beeping inside his home. At that point, Ramirez had no choice but to admit the iPad was in his possession, but he blamed it on his wife. “I’m so embarrassed,” Ramirez told ABC News. “My wife says she got the iPad and brought it home.” He then shut the door. And then he got fired. Eat your heart out, Arnold Diaz.

381 TSA officers have been fired for stealing since 2003, 11 of them this year. ABC’s investigation turned up “case after case” of TSA theft, and one former TSA screener—who did three years in prison for airport theft—tells the network no one is checked for stolen goods. “I played in with the rest of them with ‘I don’t care’ and ‘they’re not paying us right.’… It was so easy one day I walked out with a Nintendo Wii in my hand. Nobody said a word.”

“This is the tip of the iceberg,” said Rep. John Mica, R.-Florida, chair of the House Transportation Committee says. “It is an outrage to the public, and actually to our aviation system.” Rep. Mica wants the Government Accountability Office to do a full investigation of TSA’s theft problems. In its statement, the TSA said it “holds its employees to the highest ethical standards.”

Murdered ex-SEAL’s mother frustrated by pace of Benghazi investigation | The Cable

The mother of Tyrone Woods, one of the two former Navy SEALs killed in the Sept. 11 attack on the Benghazi consulate, is speaking out about the slow pace of the investigation into the death of her son and three other Americans.

“Don’t want to ever politicize the loss of my son in Libya, but it has been 16 days and the FBI has yet to get to Benghazi to begin their investigation,” Woods’s mother Cheryl Croft Bennett wrote on her Facebook page Thursday. “Apparently they have made it to Tripoli but haven’t been allowed to enter Benghazi. Meanwhile, the diplomatic outpost where Tyrone and [former SEAL] Glen [Doherty] died, was not and is not secured. Absolutely unacceptable.”

Bennett was apparently referring to reports by CNN and other outlets noting that the FBI team sent to investigate the Benghazi assault has yet to arrive in the city, and the consulate remains unguarded.

Peter King calls for Susan Rice’s resignation – Bobby Cervantes –

Rep. Peter King called for the resignation Friday of U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice for initially saying that the deadly Sept. 11 assault on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, was spontaneous.

“I believe that this was such a failure of foreign policy messag[ing] and leadership, such a misstatement of facts as was known at the time … for her to go on all of those shows and in effect be our spokesman for the world and be misinforming the American people and our allies and countries around the world, to me, somebody has to pay the price for this,” the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee told CNN.

In a Friday statement, Director of Public Affairs for National Intelligence Shawn Turner sought to explain the change that eventually lead President Barack Obama to say the attacks were terrorism and “not a mob action.”

“In the immediate aftermath, there was information that led us to assess that the attack began spontaneously following protests earlier that day at our embassy in Cairo. We provided that initial assessment to executive branch officials and members of Congress, who used that information to discuss the attack publicly and provide updates as they became available. Throughout our investigation we continued to emphasize that information gathered was preliminary and evolving,” Turner said.

Senate Foreign Relations Chairman John Kerry (D-Mass.) defended Rice late Friday in a statement, saying, “I’m deeply disturbed by efforts to find the politics instead of finding the facts in this debate… I’m particularly troubled by calls for Ambassador Rice’s resignation. She is a remarkable public servant for whom the liberation of the Libyan people has been a personal issue and public mission.”

Ari Fleischer said on CNN that Rice should keep her job.

“Susan Rice said something she should not have said,” the former spokesman for President George W. Bush said. “I don’t know if she was just being loose. I think the Obama administration has a history of underplaying threats to the United States, for example the underwear bomber, but I’m uncomfortable with this talk of resign because of what she said.”

Days after the attack, Rice was adamant that the attack, which left Ambassador Chris Stevens and the three other Americans dead, was a “spontaneous” reaction to the protests at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, which may have been sparked by the anti-Islamic film “Innocence of Muslims.”

“But our current best assessment, based on the information that we have at present, is that, in fact, what this began as, it was a spontaneous — not a premeditated — response to what had transpired in Cairo,” Rice said at the time.

Glenn Beck Claims Murdered EVE Player Was CIA

EVE Online player and U.S. Foreign Service Officer Sean “Vilerat” Smith, along with U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and security personnel Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, were killed on September 11 in an attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi. Smith’s death was of particular relevance to gamers due to his standing in the EVE Online community; his final message to the outside world actually went to his fellow EVE players.

But in Glenn Beck’s world, that’s not what happened at all. He believes Smith’s final words were a coded call to the CIA for help, and that Smith himself was a CIA man, in Benghazi as part of a mission to cover up the Obama administration’s involvement in the Libyan uprising.

The gist of Beck’s story is that the U.S. government surreptitiously dropped weapons into Libya during the uprising against the Gaddafi regime, but with extremist forces moving in and Libya teetering on the edge of complete chaos, it needed to get those weapons out of the country before they fell into the wrong hands. That was why Stevens was in Benghazi: He brokered the original deal, Beck believes, and so he was sent in, with CIA handlers, to clean it up. And when things went wrong, Smith’s final message was not a heads-up to his fellow gamers, but a coded call for assistance. The relevant bit:

“He noticed that they’re watching all three [exits]. So what does he do? Nah, he doesn’t call the White House, he doesn’t call the State Department, he doesn’t call the embassy in Tripoli. He goes to a gaming website. Which is the first thing I would do. I’m like, I gotta check with my pals on the gaming website. And he writes: “We’re in Benghazi at a safehouse. If we get out of this one alive, I’ll let you know. There are people watching all three exits.” Gang… he’s not telling his friendly gamers. He’s a CIA agent. He is telling people – this is where we are, help us!”

Some people see Glenn Beck as a speaker of truth, while to others he’s just all kinds of nuts. If you have the stomach for it, you can listen to the full bit at The Mittani’s website and then form your own opinion. The Mittani, for the record, denied that Goonswarm is a CIA front.
